Celebrating 21 Years of Chaos!
Watched a bit of Kent’s live stream. It was a bit strange to watch him talk about me and then watch his fans badmouth me in the comments and then send me nasty messages. There’s quite a bit of truth in what he said, but I do remember things a little differently. Kent said that he hardly knew me and that we were never friends. He said that I stopped talking to him after a deal fell through. He also suggested that he was never interested in money and that I had to twist his arm to get him involved with any deals. None of that is accurate. I never planned on typing everything out, but I feel like I should respond to those who ask.
I added quite a few screenshots (50 - a couple of them might be posted twice, make sure you read all of them, if you want to) on the very bottom, they are out of order and I never thought I'd be sharing them, but I decided to do so because they help explain my point of view and why I feel the way that I do. Every single thing you are about to read can be verified with a screenshot at the bottom.
Kent originally asked me to make a documentary with him in 2017. That never materialized. I had too much going on. Later, when GOCM had around 30,000 subscribers I talked with Kent about his growing fan base and if he wanted any assistance taking GOCM a little further. I had had minor success in the past and there was a slim chance that I could pitch it to the right people to get it on TV. Kent’s an interesting guy and his fans love him. I knew it was only going to get bigger and I wanted to go along for the ride. I’m an indie film producer - I wanted the job.
He thought it was cool and liked the possibility of being on TV. He had been trying to figure out a way to generate income from GOCM, but every time he posted about money it had backfired on him. He also mentioned he wanted to sell merchandise and was trying to figure out a way to do it without making it look like he was trying to make money.
When GOCM was exploding in popularity he messaged me and explained that his landlord gave him two months to come up with back rent or get evicted. He needed money fast and was exploring every possible revenue opportunity for GOCM. I would have done the same exact thing. He was very interested in getting local support, but didn’t want to reach out by himself. He said he thought it was tacky, so I did it. Around that time he explained to me that he had to kick David Cyr off from the GOCM team because of stealing and abusing drugs. After that he constantly badmouthed David. I didn’t think anything of it and went back to work.
He said he never turned down a distribution deal because it wasn’t enough money. He is correct. I was wrong on that. Going over the messages we both agreed to hold out for better offers, but they never came. He still desperately needed money to pay his rent so I set him up with a merchandise guy. Kent had his suspicions, and he was right, it fell through. He was okay with it, he already had a backup plan to make the merchandise himself, and his kids needed the money.
No money was coming in and the date of his eviction was getting closer, he talked about posting to the group about how GOCM was going to end unless he got financial assistance. I didn’t want him to lose his show or his house so I continued pitching and trying to make money for him.
One day Kent sent me a screenshot from David’s wife, she had messaged Kent confronting him about all the things he was saying about them and he flat out denied it. He accused her of listening to gossip garbage and then warned her not to harass him on social media. That did not sit right with me. He did say all of those things. They have every reason to be pissed off. Why deny it and then threaten them? Nothing was adding up.
I started to distance myself from him and reached out to David to get his side of the story. I had been listening to Kent trash talk David and Tammy for months, I felt it was only fair. David doesn’t do drugs or steal. He actually believed Kent until he caught him putting out evidence that wasn't paranormal and started noticing giant plot holes in his stories. It wasn't about money. Kent smeared his name so that no one will listen to his side of the story. They have every right to pissed. I didn't tell Kent, but I stopped pitching GOCM after that, but I still remained in contact with him.
He must have found a way to pay his rent, because that October he messaged me that a production company out of New York City was going to his house in November to film a pilot for Netflix and that they were already talking about a full season, possibly season 2. I actually thought that was pretty cool, and I admit I was a bit jealous. He also hinted that getting on Netflix would piss David off.
But then the next month he messaged me again and said that a big production company out of Canada was going to his house to film a pilot for Netflix in January. I thought that was strange, especially since the NYC company was already supposed to have been there to film a pilot. He said that they were still coming, the same month, but on a different week. That seemed like bullshit to me. Two companies from different countries filming the same TV show for the same company in the same month? It didn’t make sense. I blocked him shortly after that. I could have handled it better, but I had had enough of GOCM and decided to walk away.
To the best of my knowledge Netflix never filmed there. Jimmie and Luke did one week, and then King Frostmare the week after. I could be wrong.
That’s how I remember things. Sorry for the novel. Jimmie’s documentary gives everyone a chance to tell their side. It’s a great story. Good or bad he created something that got people talking and that’s quite an achievement.
I also want to make it very clear that I personally never had a problem with Kent. I actually praised him during my interview. We never had any arguments, and he always treated me very well. I'm only posting images about GOCM, anything else we talked about is private. Sometimes friendships and working relationships just end. I was angry for a while, but I got over it. When Jimmie asked me to appear on camera, I tried to talk him out of it. I'm really not part of the story. He needed money to save GOCM and his house, I wanted him to get that money and make a little bit for myself. I wanted a job. Boring.
If I had to guess I'd say the documentary is 70% in Kent's favor. It's not an attack, it's letting everybody tell their side of the story. I doubt the response will get to Kent, he has 250,000 followers wanting his attention, he doesn't have time for me. But I strongly suggest he sit down for one final interview with Jimmie. He touched on a lot of great points during the live stream, and I personally think those thoughts should be added into the film. His fans know his side of the story, I'm sure the people who watch it and have never heard of Kent before would like to know it too. The movie began with Kent, it should end with Kent.
